Shana hates to see things go to waste.

That is not a marketing line, it is the actual reason any of this exists. She got into points because we had four kids and a stack of tuition bills, she stayed in it because she will not pay for something she could have had for free, and the part she enjoys most now is doing it for somebody else. A balance sitting unused bothers her on a personal level.

Trip planning and destination advice. You have a trip coming, or you are thinking about one, and you want the honest version. What to see, where to stay, what to skip, entry requirements, which neighborhoods are worth your time. We have been there, or we know someone who has.

Points and miles strategy. You have points somewhere and you are not sure they are good for anything. We will look at what you actually hold and tell you what is realistic. No jargon, and no pitch for another card.

Award search and booking guidance. You know the trip you want. We do the searching and walk you through it. You make the booking.

Most consultations end up being two of these. The intake form sorts it out.

Who you are actually talking to

Jeremy handles airline programs, routing and booking logistics. Shana evaluates hotel programs and has the final word on whether a property earns what it costs.

Neither of us does this for a living, which is worth saying out loud. We are not going to steer you toward a card because somebody pays us for it, and if the honest answer is that your points are not worth much for the trip you want, that is the answer you will get.

This is what is possible

It was a Tuesday. An open week on the calendar, a stack of Chase Ultimate Rewards points sitting idle, and a question: want to go to Belgium?

By Saturday morning we were in United Polaris seats, Newark to Brussels, round trip. We moved 230,000 Chase points to Avianca LifeMiles, 115,000 a ticket, redeemed on United, and paid $225.42 in taxes and fees for the pair. Cash value was $8,840.50 a seat. $17,681 for the two of us.
